Indian River Fly Fishing
What a pleasure it is to fish with extraordinary individuals.
This January Captain Richard had the honor of guiding
James
Asher (New Mexico) and his friend and long-time
companion Joe (from Texas). Both men enjoyed witnessing
large redfish tailing in the clear tannic waters of
the Banana River, catching trout against mangrove shorelines
and sharing a beautiful Florida day in the Indian
River Lagoon.
Early morning sunrise and light winds shown across
the Banana River Lagoon while Captain
Richard pointed out and pursued illusive redfish and
large black drum. Several fish revealed themselves but
we were unable to persuade them to take a bait or lure.
Morning lulls in the wind quickly made way for a cold
north-west 12 knot blow making it impossible to sightfish
and driving us into the deep winter-time trout holes
along the lagoon where we caught several nice trout
for table fare.
A long idle through the barge canal and into the Indian
River Lagoon made for a productive fly-fishing
mid-day diversion for lady-fish and jacks. James pulled
out his sage fly rod and quickly pulled in several fish
before eating lunch and watching the manatees approach
our boat. [CLICK HERE
