Melbourne/Sebastian - South Brevard

I took a couple of days to drive the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) recently with Captain Gina to look for lodging around the rim of the waterway. To my surprise, much of the northern and central part of Brevard County really lacks in accommodations on the Lagoon. There are a few smaller Hotels with many of the larger franchise hotels folding during the recent decade and financial turmoil. We've listed a most of the hotels, but I suggest that you consider staying beachside either on Cocoa Beach or Melbourne Beach for nicer and more consistent facilities. One of the standouts on the southern part of th Indian River Lagoon is Captain Hiram's in Sebastian, there are several very nice hotels and resorts in Cocoa Beach in the Central Part of the county east of the IRL for those looking for top notch hotels and cozy mom & pop motels. The Hilton or the Double tree on Cocoa Beach are standouts and are centrally located on the Space Coast of Florida and both are beachfront an affordable option would be the Best Western near the Cocoa Beach Pier.
